I am trying to sneak this one in on a Sunday to avoid the sh*t storm that is most likely going to follow it. Let’s get the facts out of the way straight away, in America the official November sales have been released and two consoles have managed less sales this November than last year. Those two consoles are the Sony PSP and Sony PS3. The Wii, DS and 360 sales rates have all improved dramatically over the last year while the PS2 has improved… however Sony is currently propping up the charts over in the US and three separate analysts have given their views on Sony and how they are going to resolve this. David Cole from DFC states “The value proposition for the PS3/Xbox 360 is now out of whack in favor of the Xbox 360”
and he doesn’t expect Sony to do well this Christmas at all, Jesse Divnich from EEDAR states “The economy probably played the biggest role in hindering sales, since as consumers, we tend to be more price sensitive when facing economic uncertainty”
but he does go on to mention that we are only half way through the race and Sony has the time in hand to claw it’s way back. The infamous Michael Pachter from Wedbush Morgan is up next with his harsh but possibly true statement of “their(PS3) game lineup, which is very good, is still not sufficiently differentiated to induce people to say "I’ve just got to buy a PS3.”
So that’s it, three analysts and all three expect the PS3 to do badly this Christmas. The most damning thing I picked up however was that not a single one of them mentioned anything about Home or any other big name titles that Sony has in the pipeline. It’s so simple that people don’t see it, the reason why people prefer to buy WAY MORE 360′s rather than PS3′s is because of the Price, 360 is cheaper than PS3.
(AND I’m NOT SAYING THAT THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE BOUGHT 360′S WAS BECAUSE OF THE PRICE!, I’M NOT SAYING THAT)
if the Ps3 was the Same price as the xbox 360 things would be very very very different.
And IF the 360 was expensive and the PS3 cheap then people would buy more PS3′s then PS3 would have been said to be the better console.
There’s alot more people out that can’t afford PS3′s that CAN afford 360′s so simple that people don’t see it

That’s just the point. Sony should never have put a console on the market that costs so much when their competitors can price their consoles at much cheaper rates and even trump them games-wise. The PS3 is too much of a jack-of-all-trades and forgets what the reason for its existence is – gaming!

From a price point of view I would definately recommend the 360 for playing games.
I personally, for some strange reason, am spending most of my time on the ‘inferior’ PS3.

I don’t think anyone thinks the PS3 is inferior to be honest.. well no one who is looking at it rationally.
The analysts point is that the 360 is currently offering much better value for money and Sony needs to counteract that. The Blu-Ray argyment is also not valid anymore as you can get a 360 + a stand alone Blu-Ray player for less than a PS3

Ive owned a 360 since Dec06,having plus 30games for it.just got a ps3 yesterday. .and Im bored.got Gt prologue,Oblivion and resistance.It will lay dormant until KZ2.could games still be a problem for the PS3? from Fallout to Cod,got them all for 360 anyway.

Maybe you should get better titles. Gt prologue, Oblivion and resistance is not the only titles on PS3 and there are many more exclusives you could try since you mostlikely got most of the multplat titles for your 360.

Actually, the value proposition isn’t skewed at all. Take an Elite (120GB HDD), add a WiFi controller and it’s about the same as the PS3 (160GB) and the PS3 is the winner as they’re almost the same price despite the Elite not having a Blue-Ray player.
However, the entry level is the 360 Arcade which is now almost 3 times less than the PS3 80GB (do you still get the 40GB anymore??), and if you’re just looking to play HD games, you can’t get better value than the 360 Arcade.
My point naturally assumes you’re not going to try and go on-line and that you’d have to buy an HD cable (or HDMI cable for your arcade to play HD)
