No Party/Private Chat In Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2? | |

What is Microsoft doing?
I’ll tell you what, it seems that they are giving developers the ability to forcefully deny gamers the use of party and private chat during Xbox Live multiplayer gaming sessions. That is, of course, unless this image was fabricated, although it looks like this is pretty legit.
This move has obviously been made to combat teams of players who use the chat systems to call out enemies locations and so on but I can’t say that I agree with it at all. There have been many times that just myself and a friend have jumped into international ranked games in the previous Call of Duty games and just sat chatting about whatever while we ran around and shot at whatever moved.
All that is about to change it seems.
Not only that but now if you are playing in the game by yourself online, you won’t even be able to chat to your buddy who’s rocking it out in Viva Pinata. Why not make it optional for different playlists?
I am very interesting to see what our hardcore COD/MW readers have to say about this. Is this a good move or do you think that it’s a little bit on the bonehead side? Hit us with comments and let us know what you think.

Well if its to stop you from calling out ur enemies position, well thats just dumb, because thats how war works. But at the end of the day Infinite Ward know, they cant go wrong with any changes because all will buy this, even if you say you’re not you will. So we can bitch and moan as must as we will, we still buying it.

It’s to stop you from calling out your enemies position after death. It would creep me out if that’s who it did work in real war lol.

Personally I’ll be changing my pre-order to Mass Effect 2 if this happens. I’m a pretty hardcore gamer when I want to be, but most of the time I have a life. My friends and I like to bullshit with one another during the weekdays when we are all playing different stuff.

Its crap plain and simple i cant see how some one can give away your position anyways. Doesn’t it show a replay of how someone killed you after you die anyways???
So how the hell can you say fox trot artapel is hiding in “Location X”

People will just talk to eachother over Skype on their laptops. This doesn’t fix anything.

I love playing games with friends and chatting about whatever comes to mind. I hate the trash talk and senseless inanity that comes with the masses of unsupervised children playing violent games. I also hate listening to adults who just seem hell bent on annoying others. Obnoxious people (screaming, endless vulgarities, pointless noise) will have me muting like crazy. Oh well, I’ll use Skype or something. The game will still be fun, but I always thought the private chat was a great option for more mature players.

stupid move really, the only option left is to set your voice privacy to FRIENDS ONLY. So even if you are in game with them, only them can hear you and such. If that even works

Pathetic, casual gamers are dead now.
Its a shame people take this game so serious that they have now ruined it for the vast majority. I fail to agree anyone in the Human race would actually be sad enough to call out enemy info to others in party chat.
But myself i like to play with friends casually while chatting about random things and just having a little fun. Now this is impossible as im pretty sure me just like everyone else wont feel comfortable talking privatly on a public chat channel, while idiots also shout and abuse! The game is now ruined for me and i may aswell put it away and get back onto modern warfare 1.
This is the biggest failure of the year.. nevermind most anticipated game.. not to mention the cartoon like graphics.
All in all modern warfare 1 is a far superior game!

This is so stupid. Now we have to listen to the annoying kids who play this game and can’t just talk to our friends. I don’t care if people cheat and tell there frIends whos behind walls and stuff because both teams can do it its even. And now if me and my friend are playin two different games i still got to go to game chat. They better change this.

why not disconnect the dead buddie from the chat when killd, and connect again when game restarts, like counterstrike!! is this so hard?? play with buddies online is soon gone

Instead of disconnecting your dead buddy from the chat. They should just automatically mute him until he is alive again.

I just do not understand why they would do this, the best part was getting in the same game with friends and talking about whatever came to mind. I think the “COD” makers should fix this and send an update to all online players via “LIVE”. Please fix this issue it takes so much away from the game!!!!

This is a real problem with me. I meet my brother online and that’s how we hang. We log in and play, and we play ONLY hardcore. No other way to play. Since we live in other states it’s how we stay connected. We log in, invite our fire-team and head off to war. the reasoning hinted to in this article for the abolition of party chat is ridiculous! To keep people from giving away enemy positions AFTER death?!? A good player should be relocating after every kill anyway. I think more than 80% of al hardcore players would prefer no UAV at all anyway, so who cares. If everyone has the same “disadvantage” as Infiniti Ward calls it, then it’s a moot point. We’re all dealing with it. It’s when they tell me that if I want to meet my brother online and avoid being thrown into game chat with a bunch of pre-pubescent punks I have a problem.

I’m definitely not buying this game now after reading this article
