Mass Effect 2 to Ship on Two Discs

Mass Effect 2 to Ship on Two Discs ME2Discs Lazygamer

There are a whole bunch of people who loathe swapping discs mid-game. We generally refer to them as PS3 Owners. And now those same people can finally be glad they won’t be getting Mass Effect 2, the sequel to the Space RPG they didn’t get either.

Bioware have confirmed that the hugely anticipated Mass Effect 2 will be shipping on two discs, as the DVD format just isn’t quite cutting it anymore.  Likewise, the PC version will require two discs to install. Maybe putting that Blu-ray drive in the PS3 was a bloody good idea afterall.

Don’t stress, Xbox users – According to Bioware’s Chris Priestly it won’t be an astronomical inconvenience – "Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once," Priestly wrote on the Mass Effect 2 forums. "You do not swap back and forth. 1 swap and then done."

As long as the swap doesn’t happen in the middle of an alien sex scene, I’m cool with it. Coitus Extraterrestrialis interruptus? Nuh uh. that would totally ruin my mojo.

Personally I think that no matter what format the game were to ship on it would come on two discs. It’s impossible to fit that much awesome on just one disc.

Hope they have disk 2 install as a option… so install both and play from one without and ’swap disk’ now bs.

It worked really well for Forza 3, i really hope developers allow this. Optional installs are a slightly lesser evil than disk swaps.

Indeed! I’m surprised everytime I start up Mass Effect that I’m not instantly blinded by the awesomeness!
