This is a very good review. I’ve been playing Risen since it came out and my character has attained level 8, and I’ve upgraded my weapons and armor. The game story line goes linear at the beginning, but the game open up later. Then you can tho what ever you want. For me this game is far better than Oblivion.

I bought this title expecting something different and unique… I got just that. the graphics are poor at best; the gameplay is slow and unforgiving; but then you get a little better… the story opens up some more and before you know it; you are hooked. Go through the first 8 hours learning the controls and then start having fun. Its not much fun though if you dont save often…

One little gem that had me laughing for quite a while; was when I was in harbour town; jumping on the roofs; levitating over big areas and just having fun; when I missed a jump and landed two storeys down… dead… two npc’s were standing there and immediately got a fright.. then they started laughing at my lifeless corpse lying in the street… the one actually had the nerve to then say “What a fucken idiot! Look at him!”

This game will destroy your weekends… if you give it half a chance.

At the risk of appearing trollish… WTF? This game is just plain bad. In just about every way. The voice acting is lifeless, the controls are dodgy at best, and the story is a snoozefest. Rpg fans, give it a miss, seriously.

Will have a look, but seems like even the Gothic series got lower scores, always wanted to have a look at
the Gothic series , but this should be ok, but will only pick it up a bit later.

This one just appeared out of nowhere… Wasn’t paying attention I guess. Seems definitely worth a go, only thing is, unless you get completely captivated by the story, games this long tend to lose their appeal…
