Really glad to see SKATE there. I owned just about all TH’s and was happy with them, before I picked up that masterpiece of a game. Now no other skating title will do.

Great article and nice list, i would add Portal (the whole game). The awesome weapons of Resistance (and Ratchet & Clank). The emotion of ICO. The sheer epicness of Shadow of the Colossus. And strangely; the simple cheesy fun of Stuntman Ignition.

I think Portal did something special by creating a pretty unique puzzle game, as did Braid.

Also, the Guitar Hero/Rock Band series really changed the face or the rhythm/party game.

Actually the matrix came before Max payne(1999).
Max payne was released in 2001.
Still epic game though!

That’s true, Max Payne really was a trend setter in that regard because the bullet time system just popped up everywhere after that. I cant remember if Max Payne did it before the Matrix though?

I think that Max Payne’s bullet time inspired alot of other games and even movies! I think it deserves to be on that list!
