I’m in the new dashboard preview – but there is a problem | |

Late on Friday afternoon I received an email in my inbox that should have made me a little happy, you see I was chosen to participate in the Xbox Live update preview (along with half the planet).
But at least I was going to be able to post some first hand reports on the incoming dashboard update… but there is a problem.
I don’t have a Xbox 360 anymore, I am once again a victim of the shoddy quality of the Xbox 360 with my second RROD. So at the moment my white and red box is somewhere in the postal system which is a terrifying thought really.
What’s worse is that when the thing is finally returned I still won’t be able to participate since as far as I am aware they send the update to the console ID which will now be different thanks it being a refurbished unit that is returned to me.
This refurb unit will be my 4th Xbox now with my first being stolen and having 2 break on me, it’s even more depressing to think that I am no where near unique in this situation. How many Xbox’s have you gone through?

The above list was chosen because I slapped the following tags onto this post
E74, Refurbished Unit, RROD, Xbox 360

First Xbox = RROD
Second Xbox = E74 (repaired and E74 again after a month)
On my 3rd Xbox now its a “Jasper” so i’m hoping it might be different.

I’m currently on my 5th console, which is a falcon model. It’s been going well for about 9 months now.
My brother’s console just RROD’d the other day. Once he gets his swapped he will be on his 3rd machine.
8 consoles in one household in three years = fail imho.

I’m on my 3rd Xbox. One 20gb Pro and one Elite RROD on me.
My little bro is on his 3rd Xbox. One Core had RROD, another Core had a faulty DVD drive. Now he got a Pro.

I have never had an RROD, ever. On my fifth and almost entirely because of issues reading disks after a while.
To give some props to MS, my first Xbox went flying out of a bag and it hit the ground hard and rolled it’s ass down a brick driveway and still worked for another 9 months or so (eventually had disk read errors like the others) the scary thing is that I am still using that same HDD, chip-marks and all

Sorry to hear Lazy. I’m still on my first, granted it is only 1 year old. Previously I played on my brothers old core, and that is still going strong in his household.
My 360 did make a horrible screeching noise last night though, for about 5 seconds. And then carried on as normal. Has anyone had that before?

My first Xbox drive (Kids and disc drives are not friends) give in after 1.5 years, So I bought a new one as this was a new zealand model.
Bought a second hand one which rrod on me without the
slip, had to pay in , sold the new one and upgraded to a elite, the disc drive on the elite packed up 8 months
in and had it exchanged, Got a second Xbox for 2nd tv, and this seem to have been hit by lightning or something last week, as the brick work but the box is dead. Nada nothing does not even want to be switched on.

2nd Xbox. First one the drive failed.
I’m not sure if it’s just because I have a PS3 Slim that it *seems* louder, but I could honestly swear my Xbox is making more noise than ever.

In warranty and was replaced after 1 week.
Like nothing ever happened.
