The first sales figures for Black Friday are coming in and all three console manufacturers are gloating about their sales figures… but only one of them isn’t telling us how many it actually sold.
Without a shadow of a doubt Nintendo has once again cake walked the biggest sales day on the American calendar selling over a million DS units and 550 000 Wii’s in the last week.
However Sony won’t be crying in their milk with over 440 000 PS3’s being snapped up giving them a year on year increase of around 300%.
Microsoft has come out stating that their sales were double the previous week in November… which is a pretty arb statement and leaves us scrambling to see how many they sold. The best count so far has them at around the 300 000 mark making this a huge loss for the juggernaut from Redmond.
Have no doubt, Microsoft’s target for this holiday season is to beat Sony and the bigwigs are not going to be impressed with these numbers. Watch for some major holiday bundle announcements from Microsoft in the next two weeks.
Sony are back from the brink of defeat and in some style.

Doubt it. Black friday shoppers are those buying early gifts and bargain hunters. XBL bannings definitely wouldn’t affect them
Also, those bannings were of scumbas who steal and cheat, so power to MS for banning them.
But having finally completed my collection of the current gen consoles with a PS3 (which my GF bought for me
) I can understand why people would looks at a multipurpose console including free online play and a blu-ray player, costing the same as an Xbox with a similar size HDD and pick the PS3 (even though my love for my Xbox knows no bounds)

It’s a good point both ways. The consoles have been out long enough that people with one have now scraped some more cash together to get the other one. Moreso for the PS3 now that the price has dropped. Will be interesting to see what happens during the Christmas period

I know 8 people that bought ps3 slims during the last 3 weeks.
All of them xbox owners, that is giving up live to go psn full time.

I think that in order to make fanboys valid, console manufacturers should start actually selling company shares bundled into their consoles, that way it will all make sense when someone defends their console of choice.

Off topic: As a former xbot, I’m absolutely loving my new PS3 slim. PSN seems OK, but then I really can’t compare the two, since even with xbox live I only really played one or two games online (Battlefield Bad Company and Gears of War 1). The rest I couldn’t be bothered with (sigh@GoW2). I am keen for Final Fantasy though, and to return to the PS for good ol’FF is just pure awesome.
On Topic: MS probably didn’t do that well, since they’re not releasing numbers. It must be quite a shock for them.
