Bayonetta Review TNT with TnA BayonettaHeader Lazygamer

I will not lie, Bayonetta is one crazy-ass witch with a bad attitude and way too many weapons available to her.

Fans of Japanese third person action massacre games have been keeping a keen eye out for Bayonetta over the last couple of months and Nu Metro was kind enough to supply us with a review copy so that we could see what all the fuss is about.

Hit the link for our review.

Bayonetta puts you in the shoes of a really sexy, arrogant and crazy witch that has resurfaced after being locked away under water for a very long time. Incredibly efficient at killing angels, she does what she does best to keep her ass out of the underworld.

Similar to games like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden, combat is fast, frantic and a real sight to behold as she utilises her witch powers (and hair) to deal with all sorts of angelic foes that come looking for her. Weapons, skills and abilities can be unlocked and bought to make your fiendish lady even more dangerous. You make your way through the story trying to figure out your past, destroying anything in your path and even engaging in some heavy boss battles.

^ She has guns on her feet. I said she has guns on her feet. I know, best idea ever.

I need to stress that you really need to understand that Bayonetta is an all out Japanese title that may not make sense to the casual gamer. The music can be very strange and the cutscenes may make your head spin a lot, so just be warned that if you are really not into that sort of thing (and lots of sexiness being waved in your face), the game may come across as super-cheese. If however, you embrace it for what it is, you will find an insane and enjoyable action-fest. Bayonetta is a decent length at around 10 hours but you will need to play it through more than once to unlock all the goodies and become the ultimate bad-ass that you want to be.

For Fans Of: God of War, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden

Scoring

Gameplay: 9.0

Frantic action, smart controls and some crazy combos make the combat fun and rewarding.

Presentation: 8.0

Menus are very ugly for the most part and the graphics remind me of a 2 year old arcade game (although framerate is smooth). Incredible art direction makes up for the shoddy engine, though.

Sound: 8.0

Strange music selection for those not accustomed to the Japanese style but voice acting and sound effects maintain a decent quality.

Value: 8.0

Not the longest game in the world, no multiplayer either but some very good reasons to play it through more than once.
For Fans Of: God of War, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden

Overall: 8.5

Intense action with serious amounts of cheese packed on makes Bayonetta a unique experience for those looking for a game that will get your blood pumping.

I think I’ll wait for it to hit platinum, and then have my go at this Sarah Palin.. oh sorry Bayonetta game.

Someone

Got it and I think its awesome.
There are a few things that might rub people the wrong way.

The music can become really annoying sometimes (coz it loops)
The camera an get annoying as well as you’ll end up looking at something else while try to navigate jumps and dodge incoming attacks.

I can honestly state that Bayonetta is the best hack-and-slasher this gen, and is tied with DMC3 as my all-time fav hack-and-slasher. I’ve spent more than 40 hours on it, got the plat, and am still hungry for more. :w00t:
