Romania is now the latest country petitioning for Live Smoking
Gavin Mannion   January 26th, 2008  clock image  9:13 am

Romania also wants live Romania is the latest country to petition for official Live (and PSN and Wii online) support, however they are taking a slightly different tactic that may just work.

So far we have had a South African Petition, a Polish Petition and a Greek Petition. All of these petitions have been directed at Microsoft however the Romanians are being slightly more imaginative.

They are appealing to the European Union Representatives (the guys who run Europe) and basically saying that what Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are doing goes against the European Unions laws and is in fact illegal.

I don’t know if they are going to have any luck or not but I wish them all the best. So if you want to help out another disconcerted country please follow the link and add your name to the list. They don’t even have PSN in Romania so they are actually worse off than us.

Oh and if you haven’t signed ours yet then head on over and do that straight away.

Give Romanian Gaming Comunity The Same Rights Petition

[Thanks to RedZombie for the tip]

          Hi Guys,

Thanks for the kind words , unfortunately neither none of us have official Live support yet but we are still hopeful.

We are now working on getting a virtual live server, where all we really get is local billing and to be allowed to connect. If we get anything trust me I will be posting all about it

I think this is definitely one way to do this, I feel thought that we should appeal to the Microsoft as a joined nation under the EMERGING MARKETS, we’ll have greater numbers and will be able to provide them with more than just petty numbers.

if http://www.sayyoursay.com can come to the fore and open the petition to include the countries of Romania and others, let’s connect the communities instead of starting seperate petitions I think in greater numbers appealing to MS we will become a force to be reconed with, even Acey Bongo’s the Community Manager feels that we need to combine our efforts.

I know my site http://www.thexboxlounge.co.za will be 100% behind XBOX live petitions as it’s what it was built on in the first place!

We want Live and We want it now!!

                I totally agree kold.

It may totally screw MS’s demographic targeting, but maybe we all concentrate on a single petition for MS to come up with a consistent EM plan.

I really like my idea of pushing for them to make custom games free to play, that’d also solve a lot of problems.

Actually, Microsoft is right about this one: the Xbox 360 console has not been officially launched in Romania, what you’re buying right now are imported consoles and Microsoft does not provide support for them. Same thing for Nintendo Wii.

The Playstation 3, however, is different: Sony officially launched the console in Europe and other territories and they should be forced by the regulators to either provide indiscriminately support and access to PSN or cease selling their console (and providing refunds for people who don’t want the console anymore because of the lack of PSN access).

At least this is how I see it.
