Polyphony Digital have released a new batch of screenshots for their highly anticipated Gran Turismo 5 and honestly I am more than a little impressed.
These screens are beautiful, the details is outstanding and the lighting is something magnificent to behold… but
There is always a but isn’t there?
I just can’t believe these are really in game shots, even when in game purely means the in game photo gallery or photo mode replays. The detail is to intricate and the lighting to perfect for any real or near time rendering that I have ever seen.
I am happy to be proven wrong and that the end game will in fact be this amazing but unfortunately this wouldn’t be the first time Polyphony Digital had released slightly more extravagant screenshots than they should have done and as such, until proven otherwise, I have to take these with a pinch of salt.

If they don’t say explicitly that they are in game shots then just assume otherwise. that will stop the hat articles later when the game doesn’t look as good as these even tho PD didnt even say it would

Tell that the Guerrilla Games and the Killzone clip from E3 a few years ago.
It wouldn’t be the first time Sony has tried a stunt like that.

I think it needs to be mentioned that shots like these are promo shots and not screen shots, same with Forza 3, these are great looking games but not as great as they make them out to be.

I think the cars in GT5 Prologue look incredible (they definitely outshine Forza’s) but the game didn’t look as good as the screenshots that were released for it (especially during actual gameplay), so I don’t trust images like these anymore. Forza’s photo/replay mode also dolls things up significantly when compared to actual gameplay.
