GT5 Prologue was pretty much widely accepted as a teaser, taster or demo of the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 and as such there were some people claiming that it shouldn’t have been charged for.
I personally thought it was a bit cheeky to charge so much for a snippet of the real game but if people are willing to pay for it then why not?
So how many did they sell? Well according to Polyphony Digital they managed to shift 4.6 Million copies of it… That’s right, 4.6 million people were happy to pay for a demo of Gran Turismo…
I have no more words, check the full graph for all the carnage.

So they basically paid for development of the game before the game is even released. Brilliant by PD.

Whatever do you mean? ODST was a full game with a full intense story, and did you see ALL of the new multiplayer modes! That was a full title through and through!

How much did Forza 3 sell? i guess GT PSP is its nemesis!
seriously turn 10 are useless, gt handed the baton to turn 10? Turn 10 will surpass the grand father of racing sims in all ways?? seriously GT1 sold 10 million and it has not looked back. If Forza ’s Peak is 4 million there is no hope for the franchise, its actually more profitable to make project gotham racing, than forza
Turn10 has over 300 staff members compared to polyphony 150 and they still get owned!

Troll, Crow… Ah hell I still don’t get this online language thing.
I think GT5 is gonna be great, but don’t forget how many Forzas have been released in the time that it’s taken GT5 to be made, in that sense you may have to combine the sales figures to actually do the math.

Remember Polyphony Digital have made 2 other games while doing GT5. So it’s not like they’ve focused on it exclusively.

Neither of the 2 games have being stellar in the gaming world. Hence, why I think they are taking their time polishing GT5. They have invested too much time and money in GT5. It’s the same principle being applied to games such as Alan Wake and Splinter Cell: Conviction
