I Now Pronounce You Man…and videogame. LovePlus Lazygamer

Oh good Lord. A man has married a videogame character. Yeah…umm. Ok. Sure, we’ve started seeing a growing trend of Japanese men engaging in real relationships with faux suitors – but this really takes the (wedding) cake.

A presumably Japanese man has taken the digital hand of Nene Anegasaki, one of three characters in DS dating sim Love Plus – that encourages real-word interactions with digital girls, such as taking them on bona-fide dates- and made her his bride. The ceremony was held in a church in Guam, with a reception to that followed in Japan yesterday – where the guests were family, close friends, and the entire internet, courtesy of webcams.

It does beg the question of just how he plans to consumate this marriage – especially if he’s rocking a DSi. – those no longer have the GBA port. At least he can be safe in the knowledge that he’ll always be able to turn her on – and that divorce is as simple as trading her in for the next Dragon Quest game.

no no no, marrying a game character is weird…

the comment about utilising the gba port as means to conjugate a marriage IS creepy!

Sounds like a media stunt to me. Then again, it might be crazy enough to be real.

If i could marry a video game character, i’d marry Princess Peach. Marry her, conjugate marriage repeatedly…. then she’ll get herself kidnapped.

Will reply to Bowser’s ransom note with “you can keep her”.

The end.

Seriously people… Consumate not conjugate. You consumate marriages and you conjugate verbs or double bonds (in chemistry).

    *facepalm*

Fixed. A marriage is in itself a conjugation – and my mind typically resting on the conjugal side of things, it’s easy to see why the mistake was made. ;P

Haha. Yeah, conjugate does means join together, which as you said is what a marriage is and there are conjugal visits. I find it funny how people start lifting words from articles in general and put them in their comments without thinking.

        easy

then what would a conjugal visit entail?

to consummate a marriage is complete the marriage, or finalize a contractual agreement, usually overseen by clergymen…
