World of Warcraft Flick gets a Director You Really Care

World of Warcraft Flick gets a Director WoW Lazygamer

The World of Warcraft movie that was first teased at Blizzcon in 2007 finally has a director; and it’s none of other than Sam Raimi. Depending on your age, Sam Raimi will either be best known for directing the Spiderman movies, or for writing and directing the Evil Dead films. I fall quite squarely in to the latter category, and have a reverence for all things Bruce Campbell.

“At its core, ‘Warcraft’ is a fantastic, action-packed story,” Raimi said in a statement.

The cinematographic battle between the Horde and the Alliance will be produced by Charles Roven, producer of “The Dark Knight,” and co-produced by Blizzard’s own Chris Metzen. If Metzen is to be believed we may be in for a brutal, dark and bloody film having said “We’re definitely not going to make a G or a PG version of this. It’s not PillowfightCraft.”

I’m just glad it’s not being directed by Michael Bay, who has successfully ruined any fond childhood memories I had of Transformers.

The film is expected to start filming soon after Raimi’s done with Spiderman 4, and is Leeroy Jenkinsing for a 2011 release.

Transformers was awesome both of theme, sorry your dreams got dashed but for me it was epic. and Michael Bay did an awesome job!

personally i’ve been wanting a blizzard movie to come out ever since Starcraft (which once one looks back now aren’t that impressive) when I heard about this I was excited :w00t: then I heard it wasn’t going to be a CG film (as in the short cut scene’s we see in the game) which has me on the reserved seat… but excited none the less.

The problem with Bay is purely that he chooses style over substance. I watched Transformers 2, and while it was a bit of mindless fun, as a poncy cinemaphile it is quite frankly one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen in my life.

But that’s personal preference and opinion for you ;)

What substance are you looking for?

As fine a form as Megan Fox is, her boobs and explosions are not basis for a movie. Or at least they shouldn’t be. ;)

um… sure ok, we should write a letter to Michael bay and inform him that in any war there are no explosions and he should rather cast ugly betty for the lead role.

Seriously is that your basis for hating a movie? The acting was solid the CG was AMAZING, it had comedy, drama, tons of action (hence action film).

there are many other films that earn the title of “worst film ever”, New Street Fighter movie maybe?

        But we digress.

Oh no, they can’t even compared. While I think Revenge of the Fallen is one of the worst, The Legend of Chun Li May well be the VERY worst.

My problems with Revenge of the Fallen extend further than just explosions – The paperthin plot, poor acting from everyone other the LaBeouf and Turturro, and the excessively vulgar side characters like Mudflap and Skids – who did nothing to the film other than add vulgarity.

As pure explosive popcorn-escapism, I rather enjoyed the first film – the second just wasn’t up to scratch, unfortunately.

    PillowfightCraft, now that sounds good.

Also, I thought the recent spidermans were terrible!

The first Spiderman was decent, the second one was ok.
The third one was just complete tripe.

Thankfully all of the Evil Dead Movies are awesome, in their own campy way.

        easy

the very first evil dead was really really bad (need to get a vhs player to see it again), but the spin offs did get better (used loosely of course).

btw, did you know they made a musical of evil dead. i’ve heard its a must see!

I have the Evil Dead box-set, bound by the Necronomicon. The first one was great, as a campy attempt at B-grade horror.
The 2nd one was essentially a remake, but made with the realisation that it worked better as a comedy.

…and now I MUST see the Evil Dead musical.

I only skimmed most of the comments but lets face it Transformers 1 was okay but the second was 2.5 hours of repetitive gimmicks and contradictory logic. It really just tried to be too cool for school but wasn’t.

I wasn’t a big fan of the last Spidy film either but Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead films were and always will be iconic… especially loved Army of Darkness (I think that was the name) and if you dig Bruce Campbell you should see My Name Is Bruce Campbell… it was terrible-y funny

Transformers Rocked !!! It was exactly what it was meant to be total escapism with OMFG awesome special effects. It fullfilled my NEED! And the Few Million people that watched it and keep watching it cant be wrong. Ill be watching the third for sure leaving cinema with a big smile Im sure! The Movie Industry without Bay would be lacking. (My opinion) My Movie pick of the year is “James Cameron’a Avatar” cant wait. And I hope they pull of the WOW movie Im a fan and its about time there was another good Fantasy Movie made. Jackson proved it can be done !

they should scrap this idea… I cant see how WOW can be a great movie at all… Too many elements and characters to mention.

They should defenetly make a remake of Guyver! now that was awesome
