Battlefield Bad Company 2

Just a quick reminder to let you know that today is the last day to enter the EA Games, Battlefield Bad Company 2 PS3 competition.

To stand in line to win a copy of Battlefield Bad Company 2 on PS3 all you need to do is email me (comps@lazygamer.co.za) a list of all the vehicles you can control in Battlefield Bad Company 2, you will get 1 entry into the draw for every correct answer and please do feel free to put all your answers in a single email.

Or if you want a better chance at winning simply tweet a link to this story with the #Lazygamers hashtag in the post, entries close at midnight tonight and I will draw the winner over the weekend.

I’d like to take a moment now to thank EA Games for sponsoring the prize and supporting the local community, as always it’s hugely appreciated.

South African Xbox Live Activity Chart 12th February 2010 SAFlag thumb Lazygamer

We have seen Battlefield Bad Company 2 taking it to Modern Warfare 2 in their marketing but who is winning where it really counts… on our consoles?

The biggest loser this week is Forza 3 dropping 7 places with Battlefield being the obvious biggest winner.

South African Xbox Live Charts

It’s been 2 weeks since we last looked at the charts and with Battlefield Bad Company 2 coming out next week have the local gamers switched over to more tactical games in preparation?

Or has Bioshock 2 been the only thing on people’s minds.

SA Weather Forecast Predicts Heavy Rain

SA Weather Forecast Predicts Heavy Rain heavyRainbox Lazygamer

South African retailers have broken the street date for Heavy Rain.

Easily one of the most anticipated titles of 2010, Heavy Rain is now available in many stores around the country, proving once more that local retailers still don’t even understand the concept of a street date.

Let me tell you a quick story. On Friday, my wife – a big fan of Quantic Dreams – was in the Menlyn shopping centre and went into a popular store and asked if by chance they had Heavy Rain available yet. Their answer? No, they don’t have it on the shelves yet, the stock is sitting in the storeroom. Sounds like a normal story right?

Thing is… the store clerk then promptly made his way to the storeroom to fetch a copy, and then sold it to her.

GameState Talks About Jack Parows Sexy Body (And Gaming) JackParow Lazygamer

Local Internet TV gaming show Gamestate has as nifty new video concept that has them chilling on some lekker local white plastic chairs and interviewing celebrities while they play games.

This weeks episode has the awesomely funny South African rapper Jack Parow in jou moeder se huisie and they hit some co-op spec-ops in Modern Warfare 2 whilst talking about Parow’s favorite games, his ‘gevaarlik’ car and some other very random but amusing things.

Hit the jump for the full interview, have a laugh at some local flavour.

Looking for a good deal on some Blu-Ray (PS3) stands?

Looking for a good deal on some Blu Ray (PS3) stands? BluRayRack thumb Lazygamer

We rarely ever post about that anything that isn’t directly related to gaming and I can’t remember if we have ever posted about furniture before.

Especially non-mechanised furniture, but this is a little different.

One of the guys over at the local PS3 forums has had enough of the stupid Blu-Ray case design, you know the one that doesn’t fit into any standard disc racks, well in a stroke of genius he has decided to build his own custom Blu-Ray (PS3 Game) disc racks and you know what, they actually look good.

South African Xbox Live Activity Chart – 12th February 2010

South African Xbox Live Charts

It’s that time of week again, time to see if the gloss has fallen off Modern Warfare 2 or if Mass Effect 2’s glory time is over.

Unsurprisingly neither is the case, MW2 is still all dominating and ME2 has solidified it’s second place.

The only new entry into the charts this week is Dante’s Inferno (and GTA IV but that ain’t new) with Gears of War 2 continuing to be a true evergreen title.

There isn’t anything really unexpected in this weeks Xbox Live charts apart from the fact that Mass Effect makes a double appearance thanks to the awesome Mass Effect 2 which appears to have revived a lot of interest in the original Mass Effect as well.

God of War III Finally Gets Solid Release Date

God of War III Finally Gets Solid Release Date GodOfWar3 thumb Lazygamer

This just in, God of War III is going to rock! Better yet, it’s going to rock this March when it hits shelves.

We have confirmation that the US release date is going to be Tuesday March 16th. While we are still at the time of writing, awaiting the official European (that means us as well) release date, SCEE have said that they “are aiming to release God of War III across PAL regions during the same week.”

If things go as they normally do, that means that we may very well be seeing God of War III on South African shelves on Friday March 19th!

Booyah!

Some sobering news for a Tuesday – R.I.P Gamerlobby

LazySAGamer - January 26th, 2010 at 11:30 am - 220 Views - 6 Comments

Gamerlobby

I received my weekly Gamerlobby email this week but unfortunately this week it wasn’t the usual happy optimistic news that I am used to receiving.

According to the newsletter

“Gamerlobby has been going for a few good years now and has had some very successful tournaments and events which we’re very proud of. Myself and my team do what we do for gamerlobby because we love gaming, unfortunately push has come to shove and there is just no more time, or money left to keep it going :( so it is with a very very heavy heart that we have to let it go…”

South African Xbox Live Charts
It’s the first real Friday of the new year (last Friday was just a painful blur) and it’s time to look at the local Xbox Live charts again.

No major surprises here except for a noticeable plummet by World at War and still no Left 4 Dead 2 in the top 10.

Christmas is fast approaching and it is now officially time to start panicking about not having all your shopping done yet.

After this weekend the shops are going to be absolutely insane and you are going to regret the fact that you didn’t shop online this year if you don’t do it now.

So to help in your hunt lets take a look at what cheap games we can find for those people you may or may not like that much.

Want to win a Plasma, a BMW and a couple of Xbox 360’s?

Want to win a Plasma, a BMW and a couple of Xbox 360’s? Winners thumb Lazygamer

I don’t know if you have spotted it yet but our friends over at Vodacom are running an awesome competition (check the banner on the left).

Basically for every EA game you download from their database in December you will get an entry into the draw to win one of the following truly awesome prizes.

  • Dynamic BMW 1 Series
  • 1 of 2 Plasma’s (we are presuming 42” here)
  • 1 of 14 Xbox 360 gaming consoles.

To get started and see if you are interested in downloading a game simply SMS “EA” to 31116 and follow the instructions. The initial SMS is free so it’s worth a shot I would say.

Hell if you’re Mr Lucky you could enter on 3 different cellphones and pile the Plasma and Xbox 360 into the boot before driving off into the sunset… that’s an awesome way to start 2010.
