Mass Effect 2 gets its First Paid DLC next Month

Mass Effect 2 gets its First Paid DLC next Month screen4 Lazygamer

Since its release at the end of January, the ridiculously fantastic Mass Effect 2 has been pretty well supported by add-on DLC – much more in these first few months than the first game ever was. Extra missions, characters, armour and weapons have all been added through the Cerberus network – and to date it’s all been free.

"Kasumi’s Stolen Memory," available on PC and Xbox 360 from April 6th will not be free. What it will be though, is awesome.

Rumour : Infinity Ward Staffers Staying at Activision HappyMoneyKotick Lazygamer

You’d expect that with unceremonious, but scandalous ousting of Jason West and Vince Zampella, staff at Modern Warfare developers Infinity Ward would be leaving en masse. They’re not though.

The reasons for this – while hardly surprising, considering this is Activision – are still shocking. Hit the jump to read more.

God Of War III Only Using 50% of the Engine’s Power Gow3Athena Lazygamer

Upcoming hackey slashey epic God of War III is, by all accounts, an incredible looking game – and a graphical showcase of the horsepower behind the Playstation 3.

It may surprise you to know then, that it could have looked even better. Sig Asmussen, the game’s director says there’s room for improvement, and that the engine is capable of so much more.

NPD February Figures – 360 Snaps up First Place

NPD February Figures – 360 Snaps up First Place 360Shot Lazygamer

American stat-trackers NPD have released their fabulous February findings – and for only the 2nd time since the Wii’s launch in 2006, the Xbox 360 was the top-selling home console in the region.

While the folks in Redmond are obviously doing a happy dance, there’s probably a good reason for their victory. US supplies of both the PS3 and the Wii are constrained. Still it IS a victory – Both the 360 (up 90 000 units from Jan) and the PS3 ( up 83 200 units) actually saw an increase in sales over January, with the Wii being the only one that saw a significant sales drop. Compared to last year’s February figures, the Wii is in sharp decline – 397,900 units, down from 793,000 in 2009.

I’d still like to have seen the figures if the Wii and PS3 were in regular supply though. Figures after the jump.

Flamebait Friday Debate : Modern Warfare 2 vs Battlefield Bad Company 2

Flamebait Friday Debate : Modern Warfare 2 vs Battlefield Bad Company 2 Argument Lazygamer

Hey folks! It’s time for our Friday debate – and today you can leave your console allegiances at the door. We’re here today to discuss the two multiplayer shooter heavyweights – Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Superficially, they’re quite similar games – Dramatic, explosive single player campaigns and frantic team-based multiplayer with experience and levelling-up systems. They’re both about to receive some post-release DLC to keep things fresh and both seem to be keeping the people on my friends lists pretty occupied.

Now that you’ve had ample time to play both – which one offers you a better experience? Which has lobbies filled with morons? Gloves are off, let us know which you prefer – and why.

FIFA World Cup South Africa Trailer FifaWorldCupSouthAfricaLady thumb Lazygamer

The headline pretty much says it all… but since it’s my rule that there needs to be a decent amount of text I guess I could also tell you that the music is awesome and the fact that there is a huge videogame based on a South African event is fantastic.

For those that are interested the song is called Wavin’ Flags by K’naan.

The problems with the PlayStation Move

The problems with the PlayStation Move PlayStationmove thumb Lazygamer

The PlayStation Move has only officially been around for just over a day now and already the Internet is buzzing with how awesome it is but at the same time there is quite a lot of noise being made around it’s possible failings.

I have tried to collate the most common and reasonable complaints being levelled against the Move as well as some unexpected commentary about it’s ability to sense motion.

Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 getting first DLC on the same day Mapathy thumb Lazygamer

Earlier this week Infinity Ward went on a marketing campaign to let everyone know that there first DLC will be arriving on the 30th of March so all those suffering from Mapathy will be saved.

DICE have responded in a direct attack on MW2 by also announcing it has a cure for Mapathy and their cure is free and will also land on the 30th of March.

PlayStation Move: What is this?

LazySAGamer - March 11th, 2010 at 3:15 pm - 145 Views - 22 Comments

PlayStation Move: What is this? WhatIsThat thumb Lazygamer

Joystiq has gotten their grubby paws on the PlayStation Move at GDC and has taken pictures from every angle possible.

Most of them are pretty standard stuff but this one really has me baffled.

We can see the standard USB port for charging and what looks like clip holes for possibly adding something onto the bottom and then a weird little port labelled “EXT”.

Does anyone have any idea what that will be used for? Surely for any controller add-ons they could just use the USB port?

[Thanks again to Scot for the tip]

OnLive Launches June 17, Still sounds Like a Terrible Idea OnliveMore Lazygamer

OnLive, the *cough* revolutionary cloud-based gaming service will see its North American release this June for PC and MAC – coinciding with this year’s E3 Expo. It promises instant streaming of games from the industry’s top publishers – like EA, Ubisoft, 2K Games and more.

Early adopters – the first 25000 idiots people to sign up will get three months of access to the service for free – a regular cost of $14.99 US per month. Something about their terms though has me thinking this is a worse idea than I’d ever imagined.

SOCOM 4 gets a Move on

Geoff - March 11th, 2010 at 1:00 pm - 93 Views - 4 Comments

SOCOM 4 gets a Move on Socom4 Lazygamer

Today’s news is all about Sony’s motion-controller, now called Move. This post isn’t going to change that. Zipper Interactive’s recently announced Socom 4 for the PS3 will have full Move support – but it raises the question of whether motion control is a suitable input method for what’s a pretty core online shooter.

The announced Move sub-controller – a much less catchy name than Nunchuk – will control the players movement, with the Love Move Wand controlling the player’s reticule. Thankfully for fans of controls of a more traditional input method can still use the good ol’ DS3 – and hands-on previews report that that’s probably the preferred method.

I’m glad Sony are actually trying to appease the “core” market – everything we’ve seen from Microsoft’s Natal so far smacks of “casual,” but I don;t think Socom 4 is the core game to get me waggling though. Footage from GDC after the jump. Let us know what you think.

Win with Lazygamer! Battlefield Bad Company 2 for PS3! BCFC2 Lazygamer

Thanks to the delightful folk over at EA, we have not one, not two – but three copies of the quite awesome 2nd entry in to the Battlefield Bad Company series. In case you don’t know, it features some of the best class-based multiplayer action available today, as well as 15 vehicles you can use to obliterate the game’s destructible terrain.

It’s a game that no fan of shooters should miss – and if you’re a PS3 owner who’s woefully stuck without a copy, hit the jump to see how you can enter the Battlefield.

Is EA snubbing the Xbox 360?

LazySAGamer - March 11th, 2010 at 11:30 am - 308 Views - 28 Comments

EA Snubbing Microsoft

Over the past few months EA have appeared to be leaning more and more towards the PS3 and away from the Xbox 360.

They are using it more and more as their initial development platform and are then migrating over the 360 while at the same time releasing demo’s and beta’s on the PSN before the XBLA.

However when it comes to the motion controller stakes it appears that EA is completely freezing Microsoft out.

Gran Turismo 5 : NASCAR

Gran Turismo 5 : NASCAR DaysOfThunder thumb Lazygamer

I spotted a new trailer out yesterday for GT5 that promoted the new NASCAR game mode but to be honest I just ignored it as I’m not a NASCAR fan or much of a racing fan.

But since it was brought up in the comments and we are short staffed this week I thought it would be a nice easy one to post up anyway, and yet I have to admit that the video really has me hooked.

I am tempted to get the game just to relive my Days of Thunder fantasy’s.
