Afternoon Quickie : Splinter Cell Conviction Demo on XBL NOW

Geoff - March 18th, 2010 at 2:12 pm - 42 Views - 2 Comments

 SC-New

Hey folks, guess who just strolled on to Xbox live? Just thought I’d let you know that the official demo for the massively anticipated – and from our experiences – quite fantastic Splinter Cell Conviction is available on Xbox Live right now, provided you’re a gold member, of course.

The demo clocks in at a fairly hefty 1.2gb, but will be worth the cost of admission for those who just can’t wait until next month. If you’re not a fan of sneaky stealth games, it’s worth giving this one a shot anyway, because it mixes the stealth genre up a bit, reducing much of the frustration its normally associated with.

For the lazy among you, you can add it to your download queue by clicking here

Unfortunately for PC gamers it’s been confirmed that there won’t be a demo coming for you.

So as promised, IO Interactive have announced that the follow up to their demented duo action game, Kane & Lynch, Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is going to arrive this year. First in North America on August 24 2010 and then in Europe on August 27, 2010. The development team revealed the release date today and confirmed the game will be arriving to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms simultaneously, featuring new single-player and multiplayer modes.

Alongside the awesome news, IO released a trailer and I must admit, it looks pretty damn awesome.

Check it out after the jump.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days Release Date Announcement Close 14485orig thumb Lazygamer

IO Interactive have put the word out that they will be releasing the final release date for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days soon. Along with the news that we will learn exactly when we get to dive back into the twisted depths of the characters, IO have also teased at the prospect of learning “something new” about the upcoming sequel to Kane & Lynch. So there could be an information overload for the fans out there.

Lynch’s paranoid schizophrenia is set to return along with an altered style, the developers have opted for one of the most contemporary forms of visual representation for a video game to date, YouTube. This documentary style of perceiving the actions of the characters is looking to change the face of the game altogether.

Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, A new title from Bethesda

Hunted: The Demons Forge, A new title from Bethesda 214416 11 Lazygamer

Bethesda have announced that they will be publishing a new fantasy game from inXile Entertainment.  Although inXile veered away from any major platform since their mediocre adaptation of “The Bard’s Tale” to consoles in 2004, their founder, Brian Fargo is very well known for the projects he has been part of, of which Carmageddon, Fallout  and Baldur’s Gate are just a few.

Bethesda is undoubtedly one of the forerunners in the Fantasy/Role Playing genre, and are known for taking on great projects that have a massive fan base. From the screens that have been released thus far, this co-op, cross-platform dungeon crawler looks good, lets hope Bethesda build on their reputation and that of Brian Fargo’s.

Metro 2033 Launch Trailer Is Intense

Metro 2033 Launch Trailer Is Intense Metro2033 Lazygamer

I actually knew very little about Metro 2033 to be honest, I had seen the name here and there but never enough to actually pay a lot of attention to it.

The launch trailer has been released and it looks like a mixture between Fallout 3 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R, which isn’t a bad thing. While we have to wait for reviews to hit before we know how the game stacks up, it looks as though there may be something special here.

Metro 2033 should hit this weekend and is only available for the PC and Xbox 360. Trailer after the jump.

Medal of Honor – Tier One Trailer Looks Fun, Impressive

Nick de Bruyne - March 15th, 2010 at 1:45 pm - 129 Views - 3 Comments

Medal of Honor Tier One Trailer Looks Fun, Impressive ModernCompany2 Lazygamer

A brand new Medal of Honor has entered the world of YouTwitFace and is actually looking very impressive, especially considering that the last couple of Medal of Honor titles have been nothing particularly special.

In an attempt to win over the market that is currently engrossed in Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2, it looks as though EA have have created somewhat of a blend of the two. Add to that some great looking visuals and we may just have a winner.

The only problem I see is that with Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 already being out there, EA may release Medal of Honor just in time for everyone to be completely sick of the setting/genre.

Besides that, not too shabby I say. Trailer after the jump.

Mass Effect 2 gets its First Paid DLC next Month

Mass Effect 2 gets its First Paid DLC next Month screen4 Lazygamer

Since its release at the end of January, the ridiculously fantastic Mass Effect 2 has been pretty well supported by add-on DLC – much more in these first few months than the first game ever was. Extra missions, characters, armour and weapons have all been added through the Cerberus network – and to date it’s all been free.

"Kasumi’s Stolen Memory," available on PC and Xbox 360 from April 6th will not be free. What it will be though, is awesome.

Rumour : Infinity Ward Staffers Staying at Activision

Rumour : Infinity Ward Staffers Staying at Activision HappyMoneyKotick Lazygamer

You’d expect that with unceremonious, but scandalous ousting of Jason West and Vince Zampella, staff at Modern Warfare developers Infinity Ward would be leaving en masse. They’re not though.

The reasons for this – while hardly surprising, considering this is Activision – are still shocking. Hit the jump to read more.

Flamebait Friday Debate : Modern Warfare 2 vs Battlefield Bad Company 2

Geoff - March 12th, 2010 at 12:15 pm - 257 Views - 15 Comments

Flamebait Friday Debate : Modern Warfare 2 vs Battlefield Bad Company 2 Argument Lazygamer

Hey folks! It’s time for our Friday debate – and today you can leave your console allegiances at the door. We’re here today to discuss the two multiplayer shooter heavyweights – Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Superficially, they’re quite similar games – Dramatic, explosive single player campaigns and frantic team-based multiplayer with experience and levelling-up systems. They’re both about to receive some post-release DLC to keep things fresh and both seem to be keeping the people on my friends lists pretty occupied.

Now that you’ve had ample time to play both – which one offers you a better experience? Which has lobbies filled with morons? Gloves are off, let us know which you prefer – and why.

FIFA World Cup South Africa Trailer FifaWorldCupSouthAfricaLady thumb Lazygamer

The headline pretty much says it all… but since it’s my rule that there needs to be a decent amount of text I guess I could also tell you that the music is awesome and the fact that there is a huge videogame based on a South African event is fantastic.

For those that are interested the song is called Wavin’ Flags by K’naan.

OnLive Launches June 17, Still sounds Like a Terrible Idea

OnLive Launches June 17, Still sounds Like a Terrible Idea OnliveMore Lazygamer

OnLive, the *cough* revolutionary cloud-based gaming service will see its North American release this June for PC and MAC – coinciding with this year’s E3 Expo. It promises instant streaming of games from the industry’s top publishers – like EA, Ubisoft, 2K Games and more.

Early adopters – the first 25000 idiots people to sign up will get three months of access to the service for free – a regular cost of $14.99 US per month. Something about their terms though has me thinking this is a worse idea than I’d ever imagined.

Zero Punctuation: Aliens vs Predator AliensVsPredator thumb Lazygamer

Aliens vs Predator hasn’t arrived to glowing reviews and therefore it is no surprise that Yahtzee has found very little to compliment in this weeks Zero Punctuation.

The most meaningful point in this review is when he points out that seeing as both Aliens and Predators are aliens the title makes no sense.

Mafia II to be 15 Hours Long, Looking Awesome

Geoff - March 10th, 2010 at 4:00 pm - 169 Views - One Comment

Mafia II to be 15 Hours Long, Looking Awesome Mafia2 Lazygamer

If anybody were to ask me right now what my favourite free-roaming sandbox game is, it would undoubtedly be Mafia : The City of Lot Heaven. More mature and story focused than the GTA games, its 1930’s Godfather and Goodfellas inspired Mafioso plot resonated more with me.

I’m glad to report that the sequel – delayed, but due later this year – looks to continue the awesomeness. It’s been confirmed by the game’s producer, Denby Grace, that the game will last about 15 hours. While some may be unhappy about it being short, I think that’s perfect. All the peripheral activities in sandbox games – while fun – detract from the storytelling.
