Some more Windows Phone 7 news Windows7Phone thumb Lazygamer

Stephen Totilo from Kotaku has been chatting with some Windows Phone 7 guys from Microsoft about the gaming ability of the upcoming mobiles and how they will interact with our current Xbox Live experience.

The entire article is a nice read for all those who are interested but the key points I took out from it are as follows.

Super Street Fighter IV’s Hakan Finally Announced hakan Lazygamer

The super slippery oil-obsessed grappler Hakan that everybody knew was coming to Super Street Fighter IV has finally been announced, rounding out the total of new characters in the quasi-sequel to this generation’s most acclaimed fighting game to a total of 10.

Obviously great news for Street Fighter IV fans. In related news, Street fighter IV for the iPhone saw release today, and initial impressions are surprisingly positive – it’s obviously not going to keep tournament level players all that happy, but it’s a decent portable version of the title.

Super Street Fighter IV releases on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in April. SFIV iPhone is available on iTunes right now.

Hakan and iPhone trailers after the jump.

Street Fighter IV iPhone Gameplay Video – Hmmm, Not Bad

Street Fighter IV iPhone Gameplay Video Hmmm, Not Bad SFiPhone Lazygamer

When I first heard the news that Street Fighter IV was coming to the iPhone, I initially felt a small burst of excitement.

Shortly after, I came to my senses and realised that there is no way in hell that the game could actually play decently using touch screen buttons on a small screen. After watching the gameplay video below, I think my mind may have been changed again, because in all honesty, it actually looks like it plays pretty decently.

It looks like they have included the ultra combo start-up animations as overlayed video, but hey, if it works, it works, right? You can also see the full roster of available characters when they are in the character select screen.

Hit the jump and see for yourself, it’s not bad at all.

Plants vs Zombies Now Available On The iTunes App Store

Plants vs Zombies Now Available On The iTunes App Store PlantsVsZombies Lazygamer

I am one of those sorry suckers that always heard about Popcap’s Plants vs Zombies but never actually played it.

With so many people saying good things about it I had always wanted to pick it up. Well, if you are an iPhone/iPod touch owner, you can now pick the game up in the US app store for only $2,99, which if you haven’t noticed, is a complete bargain for a great game on the go.

I have already bought it and I can report that the game is really fun, the controls work like a charm on the iPhone and it all works really well. So if you have an iPhone, do yourself a favour and pick it up.

Get it through this link: iTunes

Street Fighter IV Is Coming To iPhone/iPod Seriously tba street fighter iv 20100214054926169 Lazygamer

It is an understatement to say that I am a massive Street Fighter IV fanatic, seriously, I play it way too much. Even for someone like me, this news is rather strange and unexpected.

IGN have reported that Street Fighter IV is coming to the iPhone this March. How in the heck it’s going to work… well, I have no clue. I’m still kind of excited at the idea of having a version of SFIV with me wherever I go, so I hope that Capcom somehow manages to pull this off.

Interested? More after the jump.

Live Anywhere finally launches Windows7Phone thumb Lazygamer

Around a millennia ago Microsoft announced that Xbox Live was going to be expanding and going er anywhere… the idea at the time was that we would be able to plays games, get achievements and message people from a plethora of mobile and fixed devices.

And now that dream is finally coming true, the new Windows 7 Mobile Phone from Microsoft offers Xbox Live which will allow you to play Xbox Live Games, view the spotlight channel (does anyone do this?) and view a friends gamercard via your phone.

Bejeweled : 10 Years Old Bejeweled Lazygamer

PopCap Games have let us know that yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of casual gaming icon Bejeweled. If you don’t know what Bejeweled is, chances are you’ve been living under a rock. In an alternate dimension.

"Bejeweled has obviously succeeded beyond our wildest dreams," said Jason Kapalka, co-creator of the game, co-founder and CEO at PopCap. "When Brian Fiete, John Vechey and I built the game ten years ago, we had no grand aspirations for it or PopCap, we were trying to survive as a company during the depths of the dot-com collapse. Little did we know we’d still be selling copies of Bejeweled a decade later!"

GT Racing Trailer For iPhone – Not Gran Turismo, But Who Cares?

GT Racing Trailer For iPhone Not Gran Turismo, But Who Cares? GTracing Lazygamer

Gameloft, who are known for their awesome titles, especially when it comes to platforms like the iPhone have been working on GT Racing. As you can tell from the title, the game is pretty much a shameless clone of Gran Turismo and to be honest, I don’t care.

The game is actually looking great, and seems to play well from what I have seen in the trailer, so I can’t say that I’m not happy about it. To be dead honest, I couldn’t ever see Polyphony bringing a Gran Turismo to the iPhone, not with the stuff already on their plate, so this works for me.

Check out the impressive trailer after the jump.

Apple Announces the iPad – It’s quite the monster iPad thumb Lazygamer

Apple last night announced the long awaited iPad, Apple’s first major foray into the table PC market and it already looks untouchable. The thing is beautiful and seeing as though it can run every application on the iStore natively it already has a gargantuam amount of applications ready for launch.

It’s going to cost $499 (US) and the most important thing is that it’s going to play games as well. So how does this latest entrant into the game market stack up in size compared to the rest.

EA Sports in Peripheral Deals

EA Sports in Peripheral Deals EASportsPeripherals Lazygamer

I have a house full of crappy plastic peripherals, something I pretty much blame Nintendo for. As demonstrated by games like Tony Hawk Ride and the perpetual onslaught of rhythm games, peripheral based gaming is hot business right now.

Ea it seems, is keen to jump on the bandwagon, as they signed deals with multiple accessory providers – Sakar, Sunflex Europe and Accessories 4 Technology – to create as well as market sporting peripherals and interactive fitness crap for PC and console use.

Oh god, why?

Want to win a Plasma, a BMW and a couple of Xbox 360’s?

Want to win a Plasma, a BMW and a couple of Xbox 360’s? Winners thumb Lazygamer

I don’t know if you have spotted it yet but our friends over at Vodacom are running an awesome competition (check the banner on the left).

Basically for every EA game you download from their database in December you will get an entry into the draw to win one of the following truly awesome prizes.

  • Dynamic BMW 1 Series
  • 1 of 2 Plasma’s (we are presuming 42” here)
  • 1 of 14 Xbox 360 gaming consoles.

To get started and see if you are interested in downloading a game simply SMS “EA” to 31116 and follow the instructions. The initial SMS is free so it’s worth a shot I would say.

Hell if you’re Mr Lucky you could enter on 3 different cellphones and pile the Plasma and Xbox 360 into the boot before driving off into the sunset… that’s an awesome way to start 2010.

Dragon’s Lair Released For iPhone Today

Dragons Lair Released For iPhone Today DragonsLair Lazygamer

Do you remember that good ol’ days of playing Dragon’s Lair? Well, I don’t because I never had the chance to play it.

I’ve heard things about it for years and now I actually have the chance to play it, on my iPhone. The classic game has been ported over to the iPhone and was released today for the decent price of $4.99 (yeah, that’s like less than R40) and promises to bring the full experience back to the hands of iPhone users.

I have recently been playing the port of Beneath a Steel Sky on my iPhone (the old point and click adventure) and the game is just incredible, making me realise that the iPhone is becoming the perfect platform for ports of old games.

Mobile Gaming Just Got Casual (4 PSP Mini’s Details)

Mobile Gaming Just Got Casual (4 PSP Minis Details) pspgo thumb Lazygamer

Oh sweet Guys. As some of you may already know, Sony has an upcoming Mini service that launches on October 1st. The service will allow gamers to download mini-games that have been limited to 100MBs by Sony themselves.

As an avid gamer I’ll never frown upon the casual sector, there’s just too much good to be done through it especially in terms of opening the market to rising or established indie developers. The proof of this pudding can already be seen in indy developer Icon Games Entertainment, who have just released details on four mini games they are already working on for Sony’s new service. Scroll over to check out the official new details.

Drugs Are Bad: WoW Addict Gets relegated to a Retreat

Drugs Are Bad: WoW Addict Gets relegated to a Retreat tshirt Lazygamer

And so it has begun, gamers in the states and other countries are being hunted and stalked by some kind of higher power. Apparently these guys believe that we should be playing outside… bleh. Okay so fine I think kids and human beings in general should gets some sun on their pasty legs, some fresh air in their lungs and even some genuine face-to-face interaction with other human beings.

But gaming is fun and often better than the real world so what’s the problem then? Irresponsible gamers who just don’t know when to say “no” and quit hunting after that next XP or ‘level up’ or who just have to unlock one more achievement. So if you’re one of those guys who’s best friends names are CyberWartog69 and DushBlindSpot26 or GuyPreTENDing2Bgirl789 and you spend 88 hours of your weekend playing games or worse… MMORPG’s then maybe you should make some changes. Nothing too big at first… maybe a few LAN sessions with actual people.
